The affected apps encompass the social media app Snapchat, the gaming platform Roblox, Signal, and the language learning app Duolingo, along with multiple Amazon-managed platforms such as its key e-commerce platform and the Ring doorbell company.
Across the United Kingdom, Lloyds bank was affected along with its branches the bank Halifax and Bank of Scotland, and additional accounts of problems using the HM Revenue and Customs site on the start of the week. Additionally in Britain, multiple Ring device owners turned to networks to report their security devices were malfunctioning.
Just within Britain, reports of issues on individual apps ran into the tens of thousands for each platform.
